After a rather wet week here in Sydney, it’s time to cheer myself up with some of the flowers I have seen over the past week or so. It isn’t a long one today, but I always have a smile after seeing the flowers from my week.

I’ll start with the frangipani flowers as they are really pretty. They also remind me of holidays in Singapore and Thailand, which both had lovely weather on a couple of visits to each country.

While my faxvoutirt nasturtium is the one I have growing at home, I do like these orange ones too. I walk past these ones quite often and they always put a smile on my face-the colour stands out a mile!

In the same garden bed are the pretty purple flowers of purple heart-you can read here for more information. I like purple heart due to its colour-it adds another layer of interest against the green of most other leaves around it.

This is an alder tree. Located in a park, it is a rather lovely tree that has a slight weeping habit. It isn’t a showy tree in any way, but that what makes it a good tree to have around if you have the space for a medium tree.

It’s that time of year when clivias start flowering, mostly with bright orange flowers like the ones below, although I have also seen yellow flowers too. You can read more about the lovely clivia here.

Orange seems to be a slight theme this week, as I now have the ditch lily (Hemerocallis fulva)I really like flowers like this, especially in grey, wet weather!

This has to be my weekly highlight. This is the wonderfully showy Costa Rican butterfly vine, Dalechampia dioscoreifolia. This is a new plant for me and one that I really like, precisely because the bright pink bracts are so bright and cheerful.

I love paperbark flowers, which is why this flower from the broad-leaved paperbark (more info here). I enjoy them just because of their looks, but because birds love them for their nectar-they are a joy to watch when feeding.

Finally for today is this wattle with its soggy-looking yellow flowers . I haven’t had chance to work out what species it is yet, but I’ll do this over the weekend. I also love the colour of the leaves.

That’s all for this week, although there are more flowers than I thought! I can’t complain today, as I am sat nice and dry indoors . The rain can stay outside, although I am hoping for some sunshine tomorrow!
