My gardening week, so far

Over the past few days, I have been aiming to do a little bit of gardening most days. I have been doing this because I often miss certain things that I want to do, especially the little ones. I am pleased to say that I have done several of these little things, even if it has only taken me five minutes to do them.

On Monday, I planted two more tomato plants into their final positions. They were very much in need of potting up due to growing so well. I also found a random beetroot plant that seems to be growing really nicely. I will give this a try when it gets bigger as beetroot is one of my favourite root vegetables. I also have a new cactus that I brought home over the weekend, which got potted up today too.

My tomato plants are still growing really well.

On Wednesday, I did some watering of all my outdoor plants. I brought home some Kalanchoe leaves so that I can try and grow some new plants. I enjoy propagating new plants in this way, even though I don’t always have success! With some of the succulent leaves I already have at home, I do have one tiny new plant growing. That’s fabulous as far as I’m concerned!

Today, I haven’t had chance to do any as yet, but I will have time tomorrow afternoon as I finish work at lunchtime. I will be potting up a couple of indoor plants tomorrow, including my African violet. It hasn’t been potted up for about three years, so it needs a new home. While they aren’t the longest-lived of plants, I think they are lovely plants. It was also given to me by my son, so I want to keep it going for as long as possible.

Over the weekend, I will be pottering around outside doing something. I am really enjoying being out in my garden at the moment. It has helped me to relax after work (even though I spend all day gardening), and I also enjoy spending time with Cuddles the cat out there. I am definitely going to carry on pottering a little most days after work over the next few weeks.

Until next time, happy gardening!
