As we have are having plenty of warm, sunny weather at the moment, I needed to get out into my garden to do some watering this afternoon. When I do the watering, I always have a good look at my plants when I do water them, so I can see any issues as well as growth, flowers or fruit and see that they are healthy. Since my little walk around my garden yesterday, I am pleased to say that there has been some new growth and I am so happy about that!

The new growth that I am most pleased about is my third lot of potatoes. I now have a shoot that is just peeping above the soil. Fair enough, it is only one shoot and a really tiny one at that, but it is better than yesterday. I thought to myself yesterday that if I didn’t have any shoots in the next couple of weeks, I would remove the seed potatoes and use the potting mic for something else. I don’t have to do that now!

Just as a reference, these potatoes below are doing the best. I am so looking forward to eating some home grown spuds when they are ready!

My new beans are continuing to grow well. In the second pot of beans that I have, one bean has fully germinated, with another still making its way up to full germination. In the first pot, the bean with its first true leaf has noticeably grown since yesterday too.

My broad beans are all getting keen on the flowering business, which I am enjoying. There are no beans pods that I can see yet, but having their flowers around is definitely part of the fun for me.

I do have to say that I am loving my gardening at the moment. There are quite a few reasons for this enjoyment. The two main reasons are that I have complete freedom over what I grow, which I love, and that spring always holds the promise of potential-for me it’s the promise of a good potential crop. There is also the fact that gardening gets me outdoors and active, with of which are important.
