Monday is always a tough day at work, manly because I don’t want to go back after a weekend of doing things other than working! Today was no different and in some ways worse than most Mondays, but I was happy when I walked through the front door and saw my parcel.

The parcel contains all my seeds that I ordered on Thursday. I was made up that they arrived today as they usually take at least a week. So here is what I ordered.

I got one packet each of spring onion varieties ‘Evergreen Trident’ and ‘Red’, Leek ‘King Richard’ and Brussels sprouts ‘Long Island’. I will probably sow some spring onion seeds in the next couple of days after work. The sprouts and the leeks can wait to be sown for another couple of weeks before getting sown, just so I can stagger seedlings over spring and summer.

I also bought three varieties of seed potatoes, mainly to try different types, to see which we like best at home. I managed to grow some over the last summer, but they were absolutely tiny so I am hoping to do better this time around!

The first type of potatoes that I have got are ‘Desiree’, which are good for a range of uses, including roasting, mashing and baking. this variety is Dutch in origin.

The second variety of potato I have purchased is ‘Sebago’. This is a variety from the state of Maine in the USA and it’s another potato ideal for a few different uses, including grilling and baking.

The final variety of potatoes I’m growing this year is the ‘Dutch Cream’ variety, which is great for mashing and chips apparently.

All three varieties of potato will be getting sown on Friday or Saturday, depending on when I get chance to get more potting mix, as I don’t have enough to do so right now. I am looking forward to having a try of all three types of potato once they are ready in a few months time.

Thats my seed order complete-I just need to get them planted as soon as I am able to! In the rest of my garden, there is nothing new to report since yesterday, so for now I will leave it there.
