Earlier this week I went through my seeds to decide what I’m going to grow over the spring and summer. I also got a list of seeds I wanted to order for my summer garden. You can read about what I’m going to grow here. Yesterday I put in my seed order, so I’ll tell you what I’ve ordered.

I’ll start with the potatoes. I have gone for the varieties ‘Sebago’, ‘Desiree’ and ‘Dutch Cream’. I’ve chosen three different varieties so that I can see which we prefer the taste of and also see which is best for how we use them-usually as chips, mash or roasted.

I have also ordered some more spring onions. I have chosen the ‘Evergreen Trident’ and ‘Red’ varieties. If I have them, I like to use spring onions on sandwiches and in salads mainly as I really like their taste.

I have ordered some leek ‘King Richard’ seeds too. I have tried growing leeks before, but didn’t have much success. I will aim to have more success this year.

Finally, I have also ordered some more Brussels sprouts ‘Long Island’ seeds. I’ve had as much success with these as I have with the leeks, but this is because of my best friends, the snail population of my garden! I have been out most days to do snail control, so I’m hoping they will be less of a problem over the coming spring and summer.
