An early ‘Flower Friday’

After a week of drama and hassle, I’m doing my usual ‘Flower Friday’ post a day early on Thursday, just to cheer myself up! Interesting shapes or great colour are the themes for today.

I was so happy to see this delightful hibiscus flower yesterday. I’ve not seen one for a couple of months so this did put a smile on my face. The different shades of orange are one of my favourite colour combinations for hibiscus flowers too, so it’s a win-win!

Gazinia flowers come in a delightful range of colours, and this small plant has many shades of oranges and reds in its own flowers. I like the colours and the variety of them in a small space too.

I like a frangipani flower and this particular colour was a new one for me this week. Such a bright pink colour was a great thing to see at the end of a busy day at work.

Beach spider lily flowers are great, mainly because they look different to most flowers I see on a daily basis. This flower gets the interesting shape award this week.

These delightful little California poppies are in my local community garden. They are a little bit of colour in a border garden bed at the side of the main road and are definitely a cheerful addition.

Finally for today is the flower of the broad-leaved paperbark or Melaleuca quinquenervia (read about it https://flat-cap-gardener.com/2026/02/03/broad-leaved-paperbark-melaleuca-quinquenervia/.

Flowers do always cheer me up if I’m feeling a little low. While these are all just pictures, it still helps too. I can also walk out into my garden and see my dahlia flowers, so that is even better!
