Relaxed gardening is the way to go

Over this weekend, I have been doing a bit of gardening here and a bit there, rather than trying to get it all done at once like usual. I find this way of doing it far better and find that I enjoy it more when I garden this way.

I finally got round to sweeping up outside on Saturday-for the past few weeks it’s either been too wet to do a proper job or I haven’t had the time to do it. I also took some leaves off my son’s Echeveria plant so that I can propagate more of them, as they are really nice little plants. I left the individual leaves overnight to callus over at the end and then put them onto some soil today (Sunday). In two to three weeks, they should hopefully start rooting and producing new plants.

Today, I did a little more seed sowing-I sowed some more cauliflower, broccoli and peas. These are all things that will be used up quite quickly in our meals once they have grown.

Other plants in my garden are doing good in general too. There are leaves reappearing on the Brussels sprout plant that had a provided a good meal for something in the past couple of weeks.

New leaves are growing, thankfully

My peas and beans are growing well, along with my sweet peas. My smaller broccoli and cauliflower plants are slowly getting bigger too. I may have one or two spring onions ready soon as well-I’ll enjoy them on my sandwiches when they are ready!

Yesterday, I did see some caterpillars around but I forgot to get some photos. There were a couple of green ones and a black one too. At least I know who has been leaving holes everywhere! I couldn’t find any caterpillars anywhere today.

Now onto my tomatoes. They flowering and one or two have very very small tomatoes on now as well. The trouble is the powdery mildew on them. They seem to be doing ok despite this at the moment though, so I’ll see how they go.

That is my weekend of gardening. If I get time during the week, I may sow some leek seeds, depending on how busy I am. Otherwise it will be quiet again until the weekend, apart from doing the watering when needed.
