Coming from Britain, we have a very long recorded history. At times, this history is something to be very proud of, at others it isn’t so much.

What I can say is that, whether the history of Britain is something to be proud of, or not, there are several things of note about it:

• History can always teach you something as human nature does not change, ever. We may think we are different with our computers, phones, cars, high-heeled shoes and sparkling nonsense, but we are still the apes that came out of the trees to walk on two legs in Africa. That’s all of us, not matter the current colour of our skin.
• History is interesting
• We all get our sense of identity, whether that of our family, our town or city, or our country from history and what came before-that’s what makes our culture our culture.

That’s why I find the history of Britain interesting.
