My little bit of propagation

I’ll hazard a guess that most, if not all, people would assume that, as a horticulturalist, I would spend at least some of my working life planting or propagating plants at some point within the growing cycle. In my case, I can’t even remember the last time I planted a plant at work! This is a situation that does need rectification as all I do is maintain things and ‘improve’ things without doing much at all quite often.

Graptopetalum

This leads on to my propagation at home. I found a little Graptopetalum that had fallen off the main plant at work and decided that I would take it home rather than throw it away and see if I can get a couple of new plants from some leaves and get the main plant to root and the grow.

So, I grabbed a few pots, put in some seed and cutting mix and popped in the leaves and little plant section into those pots.

Hopefully, my little new plants will get going over the next few weeks. Technically, I should have left the two leaves for a couple of days to dry a little according to conventional advice. I have decided to ignore that, mainly because I have nowhere to keep the leaves where they won’t get moved by the cat/husband/son and I would likely forget about them too! Se we shall see how I go-it’s only costing a little potting mix and three little pots.

Plus, you can’t call a gardener a gardener unless they give something a go for no other reason than they fancy doing so!
