Out and about today

Today has been a good day for all things plants, which is a good thing.

I’ll start with the end of the day. The tree I’m going to show you staggers me every time I see it. It’s a massive Eucalyptus tree, but here is the size more than the species that’s important. The soil around the roots of this tree has been eroded massively, but the tree is still standing. It goes to show, at least for a plant geek like me, how amazing tree roots can be at supporting the giants of the plant world.

The tree is in a local park where my son does his soccer training. I only go there for this reason and fully expect this tree to be gone when I turn up for the first time each year. I’m more than happy to see it again this year!

I have another tree for you now, mainly because I like the setting it is in. It’s also my all-time favourite.

A favourite spot for sure!

Now we get to some flowers, always cheery on a wet day. First up is a Protea. I. Can’t say for certain what species, but it really is pretty.

This flower is from a species in the Convovulous genus. Again, it’s very pretty.

I love the colour!

I have to say that I love the colour of these flowers, from, I believe, Pelargonium hortorum. I find the smell of the actual plant rather vile but appreciate the flowers from a distance!

Geranium flowers.

That’s all for today, but I hope you have enjoyed what I’ve shared with you today.
