Mr Bentham

Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

Mr Bentham was the last maths teacher that I had at high school, when I did my GCSE’s in the cold north of England.

Maths has never been my strongest subject, and one that I certainly didn’t enjoy. With Mr Bentham, he actually made me believe I could do maths and I got a higher grade than predicted.

This was influential for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it gave me a certain confidence in myself that I hadn’t had before in that I can achieve what I want to achieve if I want it. Secondly, he was a patient teacher who would go over it the topic again and again if needed. This was also influential as I am not always that patient when explaining things-he is a good reminder to at least try to be patient!
