Plants from my botanic garden visits

In the past couple of weeks, I have been to a couple of botanic gardens . I have just written about my visit to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, but I have also visited the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan in south-west Sydney (which is home to plants native to Australia only). As there is never space for all the photos I take in one blog post, I thought I’d share some of those here. Plus, you can never have too many plants in your life!

This first little number is flannel flower, so-called because the flowers feel soft and fluffy. These are native to the east coast of Australia and flower all year. This was taken in Mount Annan.

These seed heads look rather pretty. I may well be very wrong, but from a quick bit of research it is potentially Juncus maritimus. If I am wrong, please let me know!

The colours here are very pretty!

These Amaryllis belladonna flowers stand out so well down in Tasmania, I couldn’t resist taking a photo!

Again, rather colourful, but that is part of the attraction with these zinnia flowers.

I love a good wonky tree. This delightful specimen is near the vegetable patch in the Tasmanian garden. I didn’t look for the species, but I love the pic lean on it and the branch touching the floor. This tree has character!

Waterlillies on a pond in Tasmania-these plants are always a pleasure to see.

As you can see from these few photos, plant are so diverse in their flowers and form. For me, they are endlessly interesting.
