Points of interest this week

As usual, I like to add a few photos of things I’ve taken a liking to over the previous week or so. First up is a pink Hibiscus rosa-sinensis flower. I really like the colour.

Next we have a frangipani flower. I usually only see the white and yellow flowers so I took an opportunity for a quick snap with this pink one.

This quirky looking plant is a fern, called Platycerium bifurcatum, or a staghorn fern. Here in Sydney, I see them fairly frequently attached to trees, and I find them quite a cool plant.

The next two photos are of roses, just because they look good.

Below are several immature seed pods from an Illawarra flame tree (Brachychiton acerifolius). This tree is a favourite of mine.

The next four photos are of a species of Eucalyptus tree-the trunk showing the epidemic buds (where new growth can appear), the leaves, the crown and part of the trunk showing the peeling bark.

Finally, we have Acca sellowiana, or feijoa. I find the flowers are rather interesting.
