Again, we have had some warm weather this week, with plenty of sunshine. Spring is fully here now, which is good after winter, although I am a bit worried about how hot it is going to be over the summer this year!
This weekend, I did some more seed sowing. I have sown the following:
- Solanum lycopersicum ‘Tigerella’ (tomatoes)
- Broccoli
- Onions
- Spring onions
- Strawberries
- Cucumis sativus ‘Mini White’ (cucumber)
Most of my other seeds have germinated, apart from the seeds sown last week. They can take a while to germinate. One thing I haven’t seen any sign of as yet is my previously sown strawberry seeds, which were sown three weeks ago. I’ll give them a little more time, but if I’ve found any sign of life by next weekend I’ll re-use the pots for something else.
I now have some bean pods on my broad bean plants, which I excited about. I was starting to think that I wouldn’t see any! I’ve also had some more peas to harvest this week, which were as tasty as ever-there is no better taste than fresh peas! My sweet peas are also still flowering away with their pretty purple flowers. My cacti seem to be enjoying the warm, sunny weather outside too.

Over the next week, I’m going to get myself organised a bit better and arrange my plants in a better order. All the pots that they are growing in are spread all over the place in any old random way. I’ll be drawing up a little plan of the area that I have and then arrange the pots according to plant types. I’m also going to plan what I’m going to sow and grow over the next few months, so that I don’t have an over-abundance of one thing and not enough of the other.
I am aiming to work out how much I can grow in my little patio area with pots. It is something that I have always wanted to do. I have always enjoyed eating any fruit and veg that I have grown in the past and want it to be a more regular feature of my life. I also want to show other people that no matter how small the space is, they can grow something-even if that is only enough space for a small plant pot in your kitchen.
