As I was watering my plants this afternoon, after a ridiculously warm spring day here in Sydney, I found that flowers were looking particularly good, and smelling great too!

So, first flower up is from my mandarin tree. I always enjoy this time of year, precisely because of the smell of the flowers wafting through the door on the breeze. Plus the bees love them.

Next are my sweet pea flowers, which are also smelling fabulous. There are also a huge amount of flower buds on my sweet peas, so I’ll have plenty of pretty, sweet smelling flowers to come.

The above flowers, from one of my types of broad beans. Before these flowers came along, I thought I’d find them a bit boring but I find the really interesting with the markings on.

Next are my red broad bean flowers. My husband prefers the smell of these ones to the sweet pea flowers, I think because it is more subtle.

I also found a couple of critters on my plants today. I have a caterpillar and a random bug. In all honesty, unless the damage from any particular critter, then I’m happy to share the space. The wider the range of wildlife, of all sizes, in my garden the better it is-life would be boring if they didn’t exist!

Yesterday, I did see a butterfly fluttering about with black and orange wings. I don’t know what sort it was, but it was nice to see. We also get some birds around and about, making plenty of noise when they see my cat Cuddles through the window.
