A Sunday garden walk

This weekend, I haven’t done any actual gardening beyond the watering that gets done most days at the moment. I have done a walk around today and I’m happy to see plants growing and flowering well.

The thing that I have seen this week is plenty of wildlife in my garden. I have loved it. I’ve seen plenty of bees and butterflies buzzing around, especially around my nasturtium flowers.

I have also seen a caterpillar on my broad beans today. It’s not a surprise with the number of butterflies around at the moment. I have decided to leave the said caterpillar on my bean plant as I love seeing butterflies around.

Speaking of broad beans, they are still flowering away really well but I have no actual broad beans growing. While this fact is a disappointment, the plants are proving useful for wildlife so I am happy with that for now.

One group of plants that are doing really well are my nasturtiums. I have so many flowers of varying shades of yellow, red and purple. This flower is my favourite for today.

My salvia plant is coming on really well. I have had it for just over a week now. There is plenty of new growth on this lovely little plant I’m hoping that flowers will develop soon.

I also have another new little melon plant. This makes two melon seedling. I am really happy about that. I’ve never grown melons before, so I’m a little excited.

The cat grass is growing really well. Cuddles still prefers her older stuff at the moment, but she has been giving this new grass a go too. She loves having a nibble on her cat grass every day.

Here is my fluffy assistant enjoying the sun earlier. At one point, she decided to start shouting at me because she was getting too hot in the sun, while still wanting to be in it! Very much typical Cuddles-she loves shouting at me to get me to change the weather. She is a very cute as well as being very bossy!

Finally for today, I am happy to say that my tomato, chilli and capsicum plants are going from strength to strength. They are loving the warmer, sunnier weather. I have a couple more to pot up, but I’ll do that through the coming week. Cuddles likes me to go into the garden with her when I get home from work, so I can do this potting up then.

Happy tomatoes

That is my garden walk around for Sunday, 11th October 2026. I am happy with how my garden is going overall. The next few days are going to be really warm, so I’ll be keeping up with the watering!
