Flower Friday-09/10/26

It has again been a really tiring week at work, where I have gone back to working full time, here are my flowers of the week.

First up are some delightful Grevillea flowers. I don’t know what cultivar this particular one is, but I do like it rather a lot. Its yellow flowers stand out against the green leaves and grey buildings that surround it.

I always forget about Hippeastrum flowers until this time of year. October arrives and here they are, showing their large, pretty flowers. As well as these delightful stripy ones, I have also seen a pink and white stripy one today too. Lovely!

Bougainvillea as a genus of plants generally have one reaction from myself and my colleagues and a completely different on from people who don’t look after them. I can see why, when looking at these bright pink bracts, people like the plants to look at them. Maintaining them is different. They can grow really big, so can be hard to keep tidy. It also has thorns along the stems-they hurt if they catch you-which is why I don’t like it!

Orchids are something that I have never been able to grow at home. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong with those that I have had, but they are the plants that get away! Because of this. I always appreciate seeing orchids out and about. These Dendrobium flowers are always a nice plant to walk past when in flower.

I had to include my nasturtiums this week. There are so many of these flowers out on my patio at the moment, which is what I wanted to have when I sowed the seeds a few months ago. I went out there after getting home from work and it was lovely in the sun. There were bees and butterflies all over the place, especially around my nasturtiums. Both myself and Cuddles the cat enjoyed a few moments here together.

These pretty white flowers come from a Photinia. The bees were busy around these flowers too. They also smell really nice, which is an extra bonus in my book.

That is my week in flowers. While I can’t always say I love being at work, I do enjoy being surrounded by flowers while I am at work, and home. I hope you have a happy, flower-filled weekend!
