On my afternoon walk through my garden with Cuddles the cat, I was happy to see plenty of growth in my garden. This is really good news as I need some good, productive growth out there. I’ve had a winter plagued by snails causing damage to everything I’ve tried growing. I did look out for snails and found one of them on my broad beans-it was, as usual, removed promptly.

I now have three open broad bean flowers, with several more in the process of growing and opening. They are really pretty flowers in my opinion, so it’s nice to see them in my garden. I think some tasty beans will be on their way to my plate in the coming months!

My potatoes are also growing really well. At least the two varieties that have sprouted are. The third variety are still hiding. I am really hoping that they appear soon. The actual seed potatoes are still there and haven’t rotted, so I will keep my fingers crossed! What I have done is add a little more potting mix into the potato bags around the shoots of the potato sprouts. I didn’t add too much, as there are all sorts of heights at the moment. I then watered the freshly added potting mix.

I also have some fresh germination happening. I have a bean germinating. It is a single bean at the moment-I think it’s the ‘Baby Sun’ variety that I sowed approximately ten days ago. I’m sure that the others will be on their way soon.

I also have some carrot seeds appearing too. I am looking forward to eating some carrots fresh from my garden. I haven’t had carrots grown at home since I was a kid, so I am looking forward to them, especially when young and sweet.

My cauliflower and broccoli seedlings are still growing really well outside. They seem to be loving the extra sun that is around, as are all my plants.
