Another gardening session this weekend

I am definitely excited about seeing all the growth going on in my garden at the moment. I am feeling really encouraged to get out and keep going with my growing plans for the coming spring and summer. It also gives me an excuse to get outside into the fresh air and get some tasty veg and pretty flowers from my efforts.

I know I mentioned this yesterday, but I am all excited about my first broad bean flower. It is now fully open and it is a very attractive flower in its own right in my opinion.

While looking like a tangled mess, by radishes are still growing nicely. They have had no disturbance from my assistant, Cuddles the cat, which I am happy about. She doesn’t seem interested anymore. That will change.

My strawberries are happy enough. They seem to appreciate more sunshine now that the days are getting longer.

All my nasturtiums are happy in their pots. These are the flowers that I am so looking forward when they appear. From memory, I have six different varieties growing at the moment. It will be great when they do start flowering.

The only gardening I have done today is to give some organic fertiliser to my beans and avocado trees. While I doubt I will ever get any fruit from my two avocado trees as I grew them from seed myself, they need a bit of food every now and the. This is more important because they are in pots, so have limited space to find the nutrition they need. I also watered all my plants with some added seaweed solution, just to add a little extra help for the plants in my garden.

While sitting on my computer, I thought I would have a quick look at the long range forecast earlier. It says we are due for a warmer than average spring that will also be drier than average. While I do think that is probably likely, I tend not to trust the forecast at all. I just take the weather as it comes. If the garden is cared for properly, then it will fare better than if there is a half-arsed attitude towards it. So, no matter what we get this spring, I’ll be out in my garden, observing what’s going on and giving more or less water, and dealing with pests and diseases as required.

That’s all from my garden for the weekend. I will continue the snail patrol during the week and continue caring for my plants as they grow. Until next time, happy gardening.
