In my garden, there is progress today, some that I’ve been waiting a while for. There is plenty of growth in general and the days are getting longer, so there is plenty to be positive about at the moment.
On having a walk around the garden, I saw that I finally have some broad bean flowers. I am so excited, as it feels like I have been waiting a long, long time for them. There are plenty of flower buds too so I am hoping for plenty of beans from my plants. I did also see a snail, which was promptly removed!

Now onto potatoes. The two varieties that have sent shoots up above the soil surface, they are continuing to grow well. The third variety is still being shy, which is a shame. I will hopefully see some signs of life over the next week.

The cauliflower and broccoli seedlings that I potted up last weekend are looking very happy at the moment. As they are getting plenty of morning sun at the moment, they are growing really well.

Inside, all my seedlings are growing really well. Brussels sprouts, spring onions, leeks, tomatoes, chillies and capsicums are all happy. I am just waiting for them to start growing their true leaves. Until they have some of their true leaves growing well, I won’t be potting them up. It looks like some of the seedlings are starting to grow these leaves, although they are tiny!

I have also sown some seeds today. I have sown capsicum ‘California Wonder’ and chilli ‘Joe’s Long Cayenne’. I have sown eight seeds of each type of plant, so hopefully I will soon see sixteen seedlings in my pots within the next couple of weeks.
I am in the process of trying to grow some more succulents, this time from leaves. I have had very little success from seed, with only a few cacti growing from the said seed at the moment. So, that is why I have got hold of four leaves from different succulent species. It will take at least four weeks for new plants to start growing from these leaves. It amazes me how some plants can grow new plants from their leaves-it is fascinating. As soon as any tiny new plants appear, I will take some photos and share them with you.

So, the final plant for the day is my African violet. I have had this delightful plant for long enough to not know how long I have had it. It has been sat on my windowsill in the bedroom all this time and it flowers reliably all the time. It is a fabulous plant. It does need to be potted up, which I will do soon-if I have the right sized pot, I’ll do it this weekend. If not, in the next few weeks.

That is all for my garden today. There is stuff happening in my garden, showing that spring is on its way. While it is supposed to be a dry, hot summer, I am excited about the potential in my garden this summer. Until I write again, I wish you a productive and fruitful gardening weekend.
