A cloudy Crosslands Reserve

I went for my usual weekend bush walk this morning. I decided to go to Crosslands Reserve today, somewhere I’ve not been for a while.

On my bushwalk, I saw plenty of birds, and heard many more. This little guy is a kookaburra, one of my favourite birds. They are big fans of diving over your shoulder to pick worms out of freshly disturbed soil when you have been pottering in the garden.

I included this photo, just because I like banksia flowers. This particular tree was flowering away quite happily.

I also have to include the flowers of the Sydney golden wattle (Acacia longifolia). Covering the tree with bright yellow flowers, you can’t miss them at this time of year. They are one of the reasons why I love winter here in Sydney.

I was rather taken with the reflections on the water today. I thinks it’s the many shades of green seen reflected in the water, along with a lack of glare from the sun.

I saw many grand Eucalyptus trees. I don’t know what species this one is, but I like it all the same. I keep saying that I need to do some reading about these fascinating trees, but I find the time to do so difficult to find at the moment! This will be put on the to do/to read pile-both of which keep getting longer!

My walk wasn’t long today, as it started raining quite heavily. That’s a shame, but I can go back any time I fancy for another walk. It’s only twenty minutes from home.
