I haven’t had much time to head over to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park recently, so I went there yesterday as Fridays are generally quieter than over the weekend. While I didn’t walk very far, it was really nice ti be out in the sunshine and fresh air.

Moss in gardens is often discouraged, which is a shame. I really like moss, being rather taken by this moss below. It was on some rocks partly behind a toilet block of all things. Lovely.

I love banksias and this heath banksia (Banksia ericifolia) is looking fabulous in the sunshine. The colours of both the flower and leaves are so vivid. I love the red-orange and green combination.

Another favourite of mine is the native violet, read more here. I love the very small purple flowers in winter. This particular plant is getting ready to flower in a big way-it was covered in these tiny flower buds.

Sydney sandstone is really nice as sandstone goes. There are so many different shades of orange, red and pink running through it. You also never see the same pattern of colours and features twice. This example below is a particularly nice one in my opinion.

When I go for walks into Ku-ring-gai Chase, I often see these lovely, if massive, lizards. They are certainly something to get used to after growing up in England, but the quirky wildlife is one of the reasons I love Australia. It was chilling out in the winter sunshine, which was rather warm as I was walking.

My walk was really enjoyable, as always. I also managed to enjoy a coffee and piece of cake afterwards at the cafe.
