Fog and snow on the way to Hobart

Visiting the southern-most state in Australia is always going to be a little different to home in Sydney. Snow has never made an appearance while I have lived in Sydney, not even close,so seeing snow on distant hills while heading towards Hobart was a nice novelty!

Snow on hills we passed

Not long after we left Queenstown, there was still a lot of fog around. It was a lot more dense than I’m used to in Sydney, but did add some drama to the views from Iron Blow Lookout.

Fog, hills and sunshine

I was rather taken with this tree that has a foreboding look to it with the fog in the background!

Another view from the lookout was this one. I really enjoyed taking photos trying to show how the fog was sitting around the hills.

Fog, plants and sun

The final photo today is of a tree covered in moss. I think we passed it as we drove through Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. I have to say that driving through the south-western part of Tasmania was my favourite part of the trip, mainly due to the temperate forests we drove through. They are amazingly beautiful.

A tree full of moss and other plants

You may have guessed by now that I love Tasmania. I’ve not done anything classed as gardening or horticulture, but I have enjoyed seeing new places, plants and scenery.
