A quiet weekend in the garden

I haven’t been very active in my garden this weekend. In part, this is because of the weather. We have had a fair amount of rain over the past few days, and I didn’t really fancy getting wet again after going for a walk! The other reason is that I don’t want to do anything ’new’ for a few weeks to allow my current small plants to continue

I have done a couple of things out there that did need to get done. The first job was to go and get some more stakes and twine, as I didn’t have any spare left at home. One I got these home, I promptly got out and sorted out my beans and peas that needed a little hep to continue staying upright.

Broad beans

Elsewhere in the garden, my nasturtiums, strawberries, sugar snap peas, onions and brassicas, as well as my peas and beans, are growing well. Unfortunately, the rain has again brought out the snails and they have had a party on my newly potted-up cornflower seedlings. As of writing on Sunday evening, I have two left!

In a week or two, I think my sprouts and broccoli seedlings will need to be potted up again. I want them to grow a little bigger before putting them into their final positions. I will also start thinking about what I want to grow over the spring and summer, and whether I’ll need to get any fresh seed or not.

That’s all for my garden this weekend.
