Sunny and cold, but my plants are still doing well

I had a walk through my garden this afternoon, as I do like to see what is going on out there, and to check for snails! We have had some lovely sunny days, although they do now feel cold-our high temperature today was 14.9 degrees Celsius, with our low being 8.5 degrees. We haven’t had any rain at all for a while, but it is set to return later this week.

While I mainly went out to just to have a look around, I did do some watering of the one or two pots that needed some, including my avocado trees, potatoes, and a couple of onions.

Today, I have more sugar snap pea and nasturtium seedlings that have appeared since Sunday.

My beans are really happy. The larger ones were sown just before we had our last few days of rain. They didn’t look great at all, but now they are thriving. There is very little, if any, snail damage and there are no other pests causing trouble.

My strawberries have no further new growth on them, but they are happy. While it may look like they are doing nothing, their roots will be growing into the soil. This will help them come the spring when they can fully get their leafy growth going.

The coneflower seedlings that I potted up the other day are mostly ok, although there a couple that have disappeared!
