This week has been a lot drier than the last one, and we have had plenty of sunshine too. Both of these are good things in my book! I only have a few flowers this week, but even having one flower is better than no flowers at all!
I have to admit that I love this time of year in Sydney. It’s the first month of winter, so it’s’s nice and cold. I also love it because I get to see the flowers of the foxtail agave, or Agave attenuata, which you can read about here. This is the first flower spike I’ve seen where the flowers have opened. They are really pretty, I think, and are usually covered in bees-unfortunately I didn’t see any on the day I took the photo.

I have two camellia flowers for you now. The first one is rather fabulous with its stamens on show. I think this one is Camellia ‘Silver Waves’.

The second camellia is completely different in colour and form, but equally lovely. I’m not sure what cultivar it is, but this one is my favourite of the two.

I saw these begonias yesterday while working and thought that they were rather delightful. I like the pale pink flowers and the succulent leaves. I wish I had a little more space in the garden to have some of these!

Finally for today are the lovely purple flowers of what I think is a species of Plectranthus. I wasn’t expecting to see these little plants, but it was certainly nice to find them!

That’s all I have for today. I am hoping to get out and have more for you next week!
