You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?
Car is the best way to do a cross-country trip in Australia, even though driving does have its down-sides! So why is the car the best way to see Australia?

The first, and main, reason is that by driving a car, you can stop or take a detour any time you fancy. See a lookout that has great views? Stop and have a look. A great looking cafe or stall selling fruit-pull over and enjoy the refreshment! In any other mode of transport, the route and timing of the trip is decided by someone else-I dislike this more and more as I get older (and I’m notorious in my family for doing my own thing, in my own way and at my own time since I was a very small girl) .

In a car, you can determine your own schedule when travelling, which is another bonus. If the day starts early, you don’t have to wait for public transport, deal with noisy peolpe (unless you love doing so) and stay in a place for more or less time as you feel like it, or have time for.
All other methods of transport have their positive and negative sides, apart from buses. Buses are the worst form of transport ever invented, so I would never use a bus through choice, unless its the only option for getting anywhere-and I am unable to walk, or crawl or move under my own steam!
