I did plan on having some time in the garden sowing seeds today, but that was a bit of a fail due to not having the seeds that I wanted to sow today. I am a little disappointed as seed sowing is one of my favourite garden jobs to do! Despite this, I have a few things to talk about in my garden, and mostly positive too, which I am really happy about!

So, the seeds that I was going to sow today were leeks, cabbage ‘Red Drumhead’ and some ‘Red Rubine’ Briussels sprouts. The reason I couldn’t is because I have no seeds left of any of these plants. I have a spreadsheet that I made that listed all the seeds I had at the time, but I have not updated this in a long time-so that’s why I thought I had some of these seeds but didn’t! Sorting through my seeds will be a job that I’ll do over several days this week, so I can have an updated list that is actually useful again. I do want to use up more of my seeds before I buy any others, as I have quite a collection!

Now on to the progress I’m seeing in my garden. Many of my old tomato plants that I left after removing the old growth that was dying are growing well, with a couple having new flowers on them. I’m not sure how big any resulting tomatoes will be (if I get any at all), but I am happy to see these flowers. With my newer tomato plant, I have one ripening tomato and several tiny ones that are growing well.

My dahlia is flowering well still. It is so nice to see these flowers in my little garden. I currently have three flowers open, with several more flower buds forming.

The not so good but is these snails. They can’t leave my dahlia alone. We have had some rain over the past three or four days, which is probably half the reason why snails have reappeared.

My borage plant is still flowering really, really well. I love these little flowers-the colour and the fact they are rather delicate.

My one remaining sweetcorn plant is now in possession of some silks. I am hoping that I get a better cob of corn from this one here-the others I have had this year have been unusable with their size-my husband just laughed when he saw them!

From the seedlings that got sown last weekend, I have some seedling germination. There are beans, cauliflower, beetroot and Brussels sprouts so far. I am more than happy with this quick germination-you can tell it is summer, even though it’s raining today!

The lager seedlings that got sown a while ago have been growing nicely over the past week. If they continue doing so, they will be ready to get potted up soon, which is another job that I enjoy doing in the garden.

For the weather over the past week, our high temperature was 34.4 degrees celsius, with the low being 16.8 degrees celsius. For rain over the past week, we have had 13.5 millimetres (to the end of Saturday, which was yesterday), with 7 millimetres today, so far.
