As this week was a short week due to being Christmas week, so I thought that I would add one or two of my favourite flowers for every month of 2025.
For January of this year, I have native Australian plants in kangaroo paw, a grevillea and the firewheel tree. along with the roses, salvia and crepe myrtle, there is a nice range of flower forms and colours, both of which I really enjoy seeing.

February is the last month of summer here in Australia. Many plants do start to look a little tired from the heat of summer, but there are still many great flowers around. Again there are Australian natives in there, but there are some very nice showy orchids from Singapore airport too.

In March, I spent some time in Vietnam, as well as enjoying the weather starting to cool a little in Sydney. From pigface, grevilleas and society garlic to orchids, lotus and hibiscus flower. Plenty of colour and different flower forms.

April was thankfully cooler this year. Flowers include banksias, roses and dianella, so a little quieter.

May is the middle of autumn, with lovely weather in general-it’s still warm without too much heat and the sun is still around. Banksias, agaves and hibiscus are looking good.

June saw me back in the UK, mainly for my sister’s wedding but also travelling a little around the country, including Belfast and London. As I visited a couple of gardens, as well spending time on the family farm, I could make several posts about the flowers I’ve seen this month! Here are a small group of favourites.

July 2025 was back to normal and also the middle of winter-the perfect time of year in Sydney to me. Wattle flowers appear from this month, along with bottle brushes. Some favourites like grevilleas are also included.

While August is still winter, from the middle of the month, you can feel the spring starting to show its head. The temperatures rise and the days are longer. It is often a really nice time of year. Agaves, pigface, and purple coral pea are among my favourites this month.

September is the start of spring, full of promise and the start of a new veg growing season too-something I always enjoy doing!

October is when the weather really starts warming up! We had a couple of really hot days in October, which was a shock to the system! Here are my favourite flowers for the month. I’ve included a king parrot for good measure!

November was a busy month at work. The end of spring always is, but i still make sure that I can stop for a minute to have a Quick Look at the flowers around me on any given day. What is the point of being in a garden otherwise?

December is the start of summer. Great for many reasons-long, sunny days and plenty of fun things to do. Also very hot-something that I struggle with most of the time.

That is my year in flowers. Plenty of colour and variety. For the coming year of 2026, I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.

Thank you for sharing these! It is so cheering to see your flowers while we’ve got snow on the ground. 😊
