There has been some progress in my garden over this past week, I am pleased to say. While gardening is never a perfect thing, just like everything else, I have far more positives this week than negatives. I’m also getting outside in the fresh air, something that I think is essential!
Seed sowing
I had a list of seeds that I wanted to sow this weekend, which I have done this morning, along with a few extras as well-I found them in my seed tin and fancied them, so I had about 26 different seed packets out earlier! Here is a list of what I sowed:

Some of these I am taking a chance on, as the seed packets say to sow in spring-like the tomatoes, chillies and capsicums. I am hoping for a long sunny summer and autumn so I can hopefully get something off these plants! The others should be ok, as long as the snails stay away!
What’s happening with other plants in my garden?
Several of my sweetcorn plants have the male tassels on. This is great news as fresh sweetcorn will hopefully be on its way soon and fresh-off-the-plant sweetcorn is the tastiest sweetcorn that you can get!
Tomato plants are also busy in my garden. I have a few tomatoes that are tiny, some that are getting fairly big and plenty of flowers.
I have some actual bean pods! I didn’t think this would happen a couple of months ago as the snails were a menace!
Borage, a brassica, and smaller tomato plants are growing really well too.
I also have some flower buds on my big dahlia. This is great news as I will be able to work out which tuber has grown and which two failed to do anything at all! I will have flowers, which is the main thing.

Oh my gosh! So many new plantings! And I’m thrilled that your corn has tassels now. So exciting!
That’s what I love most about gardening-seeing my plants doing what they should. It’s so satisfying!
