This weekend, I haven’t done too much gardening, although there is always something that needs to be done in the garden!
The only thing that I have got done is the potting up of some of my seedlings into bigger pots. This is mainly tomatoes and beetroot, but there are also chillies and onions and a capsicum too. They have all been mixed together to varying degrees in these pots, for a couple of reasons, the first being that I don’t have enough space to have one plant per pot with the second being that a lot of plants seem to grow better surrounded by other plants. As long as they are provided with enough water and nutrients for their needs, that should be fine. Over the week, I have done a fair bit of watering as the weather has been really nice and warm again this week.

Due to the nice warm, sunny weather, my plants have been growing rather well. I have many pea and corn plants growing quickly, as are my little brassica and smaller beetroot seedlings. By next weekend, there will be some more seedlings that will need potting up into their own individual pots from their seed trays. My potatoes are also growing really well, with plenty of flowers still appearing on my nasturtiums and a melon plant now growing well.

I have had a few plant ‘disappearances’ over the past week. I have lost a pea plant, a pumpkin and four coriander seedlings, which I really am not happy about as the coriander was growing so well. I have since sown some more coriander seeds since then! That is what happens when gardening though, there is no point hiding it.
I have also seen a butterfly in my garden this week-I was sat eating my lunch and looking out into my garden and saw the butterfly resting on a beetroot leaf. I wasn’t quick enough to catch a photo of the butterfly, but I do hope to see plenty more this summer!
As already mentioned, the weather has been rather warm and sunny again. We have had a maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was 12.7 degrees Celsius. We have had 1.2mm of rain one night, but that is no use whatsoever to anyone really. Looking at the weather radar, we may get some this evening but I’m not sure how much we will actually get, if any!
Anyway, that is my weekend in the garden. I wish you a pleasant gardening week.
