It’s that time of the week again where I show some of the fabulous flowers (and other plant parts) that I’ve come across over the past week. It is winter here in Sydney, but that doesn’t mean it has to be grey, dull and boring!

Frangipani flowers are always so pretty. I love this time of year because of the frangipani flowers.

Westringia flowers are small and delicate looking. For a white flower, they are rather lovely.

The flowers of the ti plant, or Cordyline fruiticosa, are actually really pretty. I like the ti plant a lot as its vibrant colour adds a lot into any garden. The flowers are also interesting to look at if you can see them in the centre of the crown of leaves. 

Eucalyptus leaves look great with this grey-green colour, with the smell being great too.

Tree bark can be interesting in and of itself. Flowers are great, as are leaves, but bark is often the best looking part of the tree.

Camellia flowers are always great at this time of year in Sydney.

I have to say that bird of paradise flowers are always great-a fabulous shape, loved by birds for the nectar and I love the orange and blue combination.

This is another species of bird of paradise, this time Strelitzia nicolai. While the colours are a lot more muted, and the species grows a lot bigger, they still great looking.

Callistemon flowers are always showy and wonderful. Typically random in an Australian way, I love these flowers.

Another fabulous native of Australia is the grevillea, which is in the top two favourite flowers of mine.

New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax) is a strappy, leafy plant, and I like the colour of the leaves of this one.

Finally, this paperbark tree bark always fascinates me. It has a strangely soft feeling when you touch it, and is just a little odd, but the more odd it is the more I like it!

That is my week in flowers, and other plant parts. Another good week for some plant spotting I think!
