After having a bit of a delay in my new pots arriving, they finally turned up yesterday so I got busy out in the garden again today. There were several jobs to be done about the place, but that keeps me out of trouble!
All my beetroot, peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peas and sprouts have been potted up and staked where required. All my tomato’s that were not staked now are. I then moved onto some seed sowing of the following:
- Pet grass
- Bee food mix
- Kale ‘Dwarf Blue Scotch’
- Leek ‘Bulgarian Giant’
I’m hoping that little Cuddles the cat enjoys her grass once it germinates and grows, while I’m personally looking forward to getting some leek and potato soup on the stove over winter as its one of my favourite types of soup. While I have a big no from the rest of the household for wanting some kale in their food, I’m going to try doing some kale chips in the air fryer. I’ve never had kale chips before, but I fancy giving them a go so why not?
I still have a bit of tidying up to do outside, but it was raining when I was out earlier so that can be tomorrow mornings job! I may even do more seed sowing, mainly broccoli and cauliflower and possibly onions.
So, how are my other plants doing? My tomatoes are going pretty good. Several of them are flowering now, so hopefully tomatoes will appear rather soon! My beetroots are questionable-they are growing, but I’ve had no sign of the actual swollen roots peeping above the soil yet. I may have to do some reading again to see where I’m going working! My sprouts are growing well, but won’t be ready for a good while anyway, so I’m letting them do their thing.
The weather forecast for today was for rain, most likely in the evening and up to 10mm. As I write, we have already had 9.4mm of rain at 4.40pm. Instead of the predicted high of 27 degrees Celsius, we have had a high of 22 degrees today, which I am rather happy about because I have had enough of the summer heat. Other than several showers over the day, the weather has been uneventful.
