Fate and destiny are not a real thing for me. I am of the view that what happens to us is down to choices made or sheer bad luck.

While it is harder for people with less money or had poor upbringings to improve their lives in some way, they can still make choices to improve their lives. You have a choice whether to commit crime or not, take drugs or not and to stay in, or get, an education.
