As it is a Friday, it’s time for flowers again, but there is always space for other plant parts too. It has been a sunny and rather warm week and humid with it. Thankfully, we are now in the last month of summer and I can’t wait for it to get colder in the next few months.
This rather cheery looking flower comes from a canna lily. Flowers should make you smile, and this yellow and orange flower certainly makes me smile.

A rather nice pinky-purple rose. While not as showy as the flower above, it is still a really nice colour.

Another rose, mainly because I love the combination of of the bight red and yellow-orange in the middle.

Bugle is a really nice little plant. The flowers aren’t showy, but that is to their advantage. The leaves are also really pretty, being dark green with some purple through them

I seem to have a ting for roses today, so here is a nice yellow one.

Here is another canna lily. I love the colour of this one-orange flowers are my favourite colour at the moment.

From the same plant, these leaves are great. Red and purple on one side, and green, yellow and pink on the other are so colourful. They add interest through their shape and form, as well as colour.

Marigolds are a little old fashioned in my head, but they do look good when they are in flower.

Here we go again, another rose, this time a fabulous red.

Bird of paradise flowers are quirky and colourful. Birds love these flowers for the nectar.

Who doesn’t love hibiscus flowers? This pink one is rather lovely.

Again, two more roses for you. All the roses I’ve included have plenty of colour, and these two are no exception. I have grown to appreciate colourful flowers over the past 18 months or so, mainly because they are so cheerful.

Finally, here are the roots of Ficus benjamina. While not my favourite fig tree, it still has rather cool buttress roots on show, which is one of the reasons why I love fig trees.

Thankfully, my week of plants has been colourful and thats how I like it. While work is often an annoyance, I have landed in a better place than where I was a couple of weeks ago. That is such a relief. I now have some space to actually do my job, and I’m once again trusted to do so-that is such a good feeling!
On that note, I will wish you a happy and fun weekend.
