This week has been a rather interesting week so far, if only for the weather! We’ve had highs of thirty eight degrees Celsius and some rain too, but not on the same day. There has been plenty of sunshine though, which is always nice.
In my bedroom, I have this delightful little Saintpaulia that I got off my son a few years ago for Mother’s Day. It has been flowering its head off for a good long while now and these flowers are such a nice colour. It’s nice to wake up to them every morning.

I spotted these ferns today as I was pottering around and thought they looked really pretty. The retaining wall they sit in is one of the ugliest things I see on a regular basis. There is an obvious need for a retaining wall, but there is never a need for ugly, so I left these ferns where they were.

This is Grevillea ‘Poorinda Royal Mantle’. While it is far from my favourite grevillea, it is still a delightfully tough, great loving plant, especially when the purple-pink flowers are fully open. This is a prostrate hybrid and there are several that cover sections of the above mentioned ugly wall, spilling over from the top. Plants are the way to go to add some colour and cheer into the world (as well as hiding grey, ugly concrete!).

Spiders are a common find at the moment. I see so many webs with this particular species, although I can’t name it.

Finally, I have several succulent photos for you. I am rather partial to a succulent or two. One of my new year plans is to try and grow some from seed. Until I do that, here are some rather nice examples.

Although early, I hope you all have a good weekend once it gets here.
