I like to show flowers to people on a Friday as it’s the end of the week and I like to try and find something cheery to end the working week on. This week is a little trickier. There are flowers about but they are few in number and nothing I haven’t see or shown before.
The green of plants in general is a really nice thing to see, especially when there are different shades and leaf forms too. Flowers can add a lot extra to an area. They don’t have to be annuals-so many perennials have lovely flowers too.

As you know, flowers come in all shapes and sizes too as well as in all sorts of wonderful colours. We should have more across our gardens and public spaces throughout the year. This is easy for me to say in Sydney where we don’t get really cold winters, we can have flowers all year round. No matter where you live in the world though, I think everyone should have flowers for as long as weather allows.

Flowers cheer people up, they provide food for certain insects and birds and they reduce the grey in the world. We all need some of that at the moment, for sure.
Where I work, we have roses, as one example. They are all lovely roses, but in only three colours. I would love a rainbow of roses in the school, along with many other plants, especially natives like grevilleas and more banksias dotree around the place.

I aim to bring more colour into this world, even if it is one more plant a year!

I love flowers too. I’m just lucky to live in a tropical country, to see flowers all year round.
Tropical countries are great for flowers, I’m a bit jealous!
