This is why I love being in Australia

I came across this lorikeet eating breakfast this morning. I wasn’t out in the countryside but in suburban Sydney. This made my day as they are lovely little birds.

As I’m here to show plants generally, I’ll show you some plant stuff too. This is a tree fern frond in the process of opening up-something that has always fascinated me, from being a kid.

I spotted these lovely orange grevillea flowers today too-one of my favourite flowers.

Lastly for today, these flowers come from a viburnum (Viburnum odoratissimum). This shrub is often used for hedging here in Sydney, but it doesn’t make a good hedge too me as the leaves are too big to make hedge neat. It should be left to grow into its natural shape.

That’s my day today, minus the boring work bits-the plants themselves are always far more interesting, as are the birds!
