Being the start of spring today, I thought that I would get all of myself seedlings sown this morning and get a good start on my vegetable growing for the summer. What I didn’t do was check that I had enough pots to sow seeds for all those plants that I’ve stated I want to grow this year-I had six left!
So muggins here has had to order some more pots to be able to grow all my own produce and flowers! I have sown six different lots of seeds though, as today is warm and sunny-the perfect day for seed sowing in my book!
The seeds I have sown today are as follows, along with expected sowing dates:
- Beetroot-‘Heirloom Mix’ and ‘Bulls Blood’ varieties, both ready 27th October (8 weeks)
- Capsicum ‘Sweet Mini Mix-ready in 15 weeks on/around 15th December
- San Marzano tomatoes-ready in 13 weeks on 1st December
- Tommy Toe tomatoes-ready in 10 weeks on 10th November
- Broccoli Waltham Organic-ready in 9 weeks on 3rd November.

So, the rest of the veg will have to wait until next weekend, but that’s a reason to get myself outside and more active.
Before I did my seed sowing, I swept up all the builders detritus off the floor and tidied up all my unused pots. It looks quite tidy now which I am liking.
My little strawberry plant and three brassica plants are all looking happy after being repotted into new pots, with all of them having new growth.

Overall, I’m happy with my progress so far. While it is a slow start to my spring garden, it is better than no progress at all! Plus, I had the help of this little cutie today, which is always a pleasure.
