Spring cleaning ready for spring

This weekend is the weekend that I start getting my patio area clean, ready for growing plenty (I hope!) of flowers and vegetables for myself and my family.

Most of the pots I have on my patio have been unused over the winter due to building work, so they will all be emptied and cleaned ready for when needed. I will also be sweeping and power washing the patio, as the whole thing is filthy!

An embarrassing pile of filth

In terms of plants that I currently have, I have got a strawberry plant and three brassicas (one that I didn’t know I even had) that have survived a complete lack of attention over the winter! These will be getting potted up this weekend too. My cacti and succulents will also be getting potted up in the next two weeks or so.

Thankfully, today is a dry sunny day after a week of annoying light rain. Gardening is always more of a pleasure when the weather is nice, even if it is just cleaning up after a lazy winter! While I doubt that I will be finished by the end of the day today, I hope to have made good progress on my little garden area, especially my veg potting up job!

The aim is to be able to start sowing my seeds next weekend when everything is a lot tidier.
