What have I learnt this week

In a week of being able to get stuff done, I have learnt a few things. These things do bring relief, but that is not really a surprise.

Great colours in this salvia

Since starting work at my new site, I have realised how stressful I found it dealing with people every day. I found it hard to deal with the people who I had to take charge of (where I worked until two weeks ago), along with those who were of equal standing to me. None of them, I have to say, were bad people but they could just be hard to deal with! Now I work by myself and it is so much easier, but does come with separate challenges.

Gardenia flower

At my new place of work, the initial appearance seems ok in terms of the gardens. The closer I look, the more I need to do! This is a pleasant challenge in many ways-I can get my horticultural muscles working and do my thing-it’s a good chance to prove to myself, and others, that I can do my job well and that I’m more capable than my colleague and previous incumbent. That will be done-if I can make something better than it was, then I am quite happy to make it so!

Iceberg rose

The last thing I will say is that if you can rid yourself of other people’s dramas and nonsense, then you always feel better! Don’t get me wrong, I do like a good chat, but without other people’s drama, I do find I have more headspace to get on with the actual work, which is what I’m interested in when I’m at work-although you can call me boring for that if you feel the need!

Coastal banksia flower

In general, I have to say that I do feel rather good towards the end of my second week and n my new role. I feel like I can get stuck in and make improvements for my client and that is why aim there!
