My week in flowers so far

It is only Tuesday, but any day is a good day for plants and flowers to be shared with others. The first picture is of a wattle in full show with its yellow flowers.

This pretty flower is from a tree with the rather apt name of the ‘fried egg plant’. The binomial name of this slow growing small tree is Gordonia axilaris. It is a fairly common street tree in my area that provides plenty of shade.

I walked past this grevillea yesterday and thought it looked great with its yellow flowers.

This is the tree from which the flower above came. It looks great with the mass of yellow flowers with many more to come!

All the roses I care for will be getting their winter cut back within a month or so. I took this opportunity to take some pictures of the roses that are still looking good at the moment, one month into winter.

Above are roses that still look good.

Finally, this is one of the trees at home. It has the common name of Chinese tallow tree (Tridaica sebifera). It is a tree that I actually like a lot, partly because of the autumn leaf colours you can see below. The unfortunate thing with this tree is that it is a rather ‘weedy’ in that is starting to invade areas that it shouldn’t be in.
