With it being a Saturday today, I thought that it would be a good day to get some tidying up done out on my little patio area. My little brassicas have been growing nicely since I potted them up last week and I was chuffed with that this morning. Now, I think I’ll be lucky if they survive the deluge!
Rain has been forecast for this weekend through the whole of the previous week. Up until yesterday, the weather was wet, but tomorrow was supposed to be the wetter one. So far today, we have had 44.5 mm of rain today, when the forecast was originally 30 mm for the day this morning (and 10 mm for the day earlier in the week). There is no sign of the rain stopping today either!Tomorrow, the forecast is for between 10 mm and 50 mm, which it has been all week.
As time has gone on, I have found the weather forecasts here in Australia to be getting less and accurate over the past twelve years. We have lived in the same suburb of Sydney in the whole of that time and it amazes me that with all the technology available, the predictions of the Bureau of Meteorology are getting worse!
Anyway, back to my little plants. As I have to grow everything in pots, it has got to the point today, where my pots are flooding! I can try my best to empty some of the water out, but the growing media is that saturated that I don’t know that its worth it, especially with the rain forecast tomorrow (but, saying that, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was blazing sunshine tomorrow)! We shall see what happens. The thing with gardening is that there is always successes and, more importantly, there are failures-which is where you actually learn some stuff. Also, you never stop learning in gardening-that is one of the things I love about it!

I was also going to start some cleaning up today too, but I really don’t fancy getting wet. It is definitely going to have to be a job whilst I am on leave from the end of next week. I will then have plenty of time to sow some more seeds and get my little garden in the shape that I want it, rather than the mess that it is!
Anyway, I hope that anyone reading has a drier and sunnier weekend than I am having!
