I work with plants all day, as you know. I also love gardening at home too, including learning about plants and how they function. Another of my favourite pastimes is reading. Why not combine plants and books by reading a book about plants?

The book I have just finished reading is called Hortus Curious by a guy called Micheal Perry, also known as Mr Plant Geek. The book talks about many different plants that are interesting in some way, whether they are helpful to people, can cause mischief or look like something other than a plant.

Why do I like this book? I have to say that it shows many plants that I’ve never come across before and presents this information in a way that is accessible for people to understand, without needing training to do so. It also highlights how varied and interesting plants can be. Sometimes, everyone can get bogged down in the boring descriptions of cultivation requirements, etc, that other books can have-but not this one! It is a great reminder that plants, and gardening, can be bright, colourful, weird, tasty, helpful and above all fun and interesting.
