My gardening this weekend

This weekend I’ve actually had chance to get out into my little garden and do some seed sowing. I always find this process therapeutic and relaxing.

I have sown the following seeds:

  • Four different varieties of sweet peas (see picture below)
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Poppies
  • Onions

My peas and beans that I have previously started off are all growing well. I’ve put some stakes in so that they are all well supported as they grow.

In other areas of my garden, there has been some slightly exciting news. I’ve tried growing some capsicums this year with little success, until now. On having a good nosey around I spotted the tiniest little capsicum ever! As it is the middle of autumn now, I really don’t know how well this stray capsicum will continue to grow. As part of the fun of gardening at home is playing around and experimenting a little (or a lot, depending on what you fancy doing) it will be interesting to see how well it does!

My tomatoes are nearly finished now, with only one or two that are yet to ripen. I took about ten little ones off a couple of days ago, all still very tasty! My cabbage and other random brassica plant are doing well, with some new growth on them.

On a random side note, I was cooking lunch and chopped up this shop bought tomato. The flesh is a bit pale, as you can see, and its taste was a bit lacking-mainly just water if I’m honest. This is one of the reasons why I like growing my own food where I can as it always tastes so much better than shop bought!

As always, my photos are my own.
