What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

Negative feelings are awful things to deal with at any time and many people out there are quite happy to try and make you feel bad about yourself for a whole host of reasons.

For this reason, I always remind myself how far I have come in my life. As with everyone else, I have had bad things happen that I could have used as an excuse to do nothing and sit in my own misery for the rest of my life, but I didn’t! I got up and got on with things and have ended up in a really good place. I have a decent job, a lovely family, I live in a place I’m happy to live in and most of all I’m still alive! Most of all, I have the freedom to choose how and where I live my life-if I don’t like something, I have the power to change it! Not everyone has these things.

Not all things are easy, but I just think about what I have and what I have gained, especially in the last five years. If I was that useless or incompetent then I wouldn’t be where I am now! That always dispels the negative thoughts.
