My garden today

This week we have had several days over thirty degrees and sunny. We haven’t had any rain at all this week, so my plants have been watered many times. I have had a couple of seedlings die on me-a couple of brassicas (again).

The beginnings of a poppy flower I think

My plants are doing as follows:
• Tomatoes-all tomatoes are growing well.
• Beetroot-looking good so far, all have new leaves on this week.
• Poppies-looks like one of them is developing a flower, which is great. I was beginning to think that we wouldn’t see any flowers at all! It’s actually exciting to see.
• Beans-all are growing fantastically so far, no flowers as yet, but that’s not a surprise.
• Cucurbits-all are growing really, really well. Only my cucumber is flowering at the moment, but it does look like it has a tiny cucumber on it now (again exciting!).
• Jade plant-had a bit of a floppy episode last week but seems to have recovered slightly this week. I think I may have needed to leave it to dry a bit longer before actually planting it. I’ll keep an eye on it and try to encourage more rooting, as I think that that has been the issue.
• Cacti-all my cacti are looking good and happy being outside. No flowers at all but that’s ok.
• Hardenbergia-thankfully, Cuddles has not eaten any more leaves. The leaves on the plant are only small, but its alive and has about 5 leaves on it.
• Mandarin tree-its looking bushy and fairly healthy. I can’t see any fruit on it at the moment, but often can’t when they are small.
• Avocados-they are both happy and thriving. No flowers, but it may be that they never do as they were grown from seed.
• Onions-all my onions are doing well and growing well.

What I think is a cucumber

All that needs to be done is the sweeping out on the patio and potting up of seedlings, after getting new posts and growing media during the coming week.
