My finds of the week

This week, I have a few new plants to share. This first one is very much a love it or hate it type of plant for most people it seems-the common name of this plant is Shrimp Plant (Justicia brandegeeana in the binomial name). This native shrub of Mexico is a plant that can look a bit leggy and sparse and it’s flowers are weird but in small doses I like it.

I have some more roses for you, taken between rain showers.

I also have the pink flowers of a Lilly Pilly aka Syzigium smithii . This isnt normally my favourite plant, but (like all Myrtaceae plants) it has nice flowers.

Below is a picture of a ‘gum nut’ off a Corymbia sp. tree, which is a genus closely related to the Eucalyptus genus. This gum nut, at one point, this would have contained seeds but is now empty.

Below are the flowers of Canna indica, just for the bright coloured flowers.
