This week has involved plenty of of watering of my plants due to the very warm weather. All of my plants have made it through so far, although some are looking like they have suffered slightly from the heat!
This morning, I did some more seed sowing. As a special request from my husband, I have sown some chilli seeds. He is getting into the idea of me growing some of our own food and then he gets into the kitchen and preserves what we can’t use straight away. With the chilli’s he will pickle them for us-he asked that I crack on and sow all the seeds in the packet. Therefore I have the potential for about thirty-two chilli plants if they all germinate!

Also sown today are some more ‘Tommy Toe’ tomatoes and two varieties of capsicums-‘Sweet Chocolate’ and ‘Mini Sweet Mix’. All these will either get eaten raw straight from the garden by myself, husband and son or used in cooking.

Some of the seeds sown from my previous two weekends of work have germinated, which is good. My mandarin tree, sweet peas, beans and peas are all flowering, so I’m hopeful of a good harvest over the next six months or so with all that I’ve planted.

All my flower seedlings are growing well too. They are all still too small to be anywhere near flowering yet, but I’m looking forward to the end result when they do.
Apart from watering my plants when needed, I do all my seed sowing and any other gardening first thing on a Saturday morning. I am always more productive in a morning anyway, but I find the time in my garden really relaxing and rewarding. Seeding the plants under my care growing and thriving really exciting. For me it is the perfect antidote for a busy week.

Along with plants in my garden, I still have a resident caterpillar, and a couple of other bugs. There are also a couple of little mushrooms growing in my mandarin tree pot too. I have also seen the odd bee and a butterfly flying around this week after getting home from work, which I always enjoy seeing.

Finally, I thought I’d add this photo of my cat, Cuddles ‘helping’ me with the watering earlier this week. In the photo she is helping herself to a drink from my watering can before I took it outside. She is always happy to provide a little cuteness to proceedings!
