Bushcare in June

As usual, the fourth Saturday of the month is Bushcare day for me. I spend two hours of my day pottering around in the bush.

As usual, there is always plenty of work to be done pulling out weeds that shouldn’t be there. The list of weeds taken out today include:

  • Madiera vine (Anredera cordifolia)-a vine, see my post on this plant
  • Morning glory (Ipomea indica)-a vine, see my post on this too
  • Earharta-a type of grass that is really weedy here in Australia
  • Privet (Ligustrum spp.), small and large leaf-a tree and thankfully only seedlings so I could pull them out easy
  • Cape goosebury (Physalis peruviana)-a shrub, a new weed for me, see my upcoming post
  • Palm grass (Sataria palmifolia)

Although there is a lot of work to do on our little site, there are lots of native plants that are thriving. Provided we all keep turning up and doing our thing, our little patch of bushland will continue to improve well into the future.

Some of the native plants I found today include:

  • Bleeding heart (Homalanthus populifolius)
  • Kidney weed (Dichondra repens)
  • Small Illawarra flame tree (Brachychiton Acerifolius)
  • Snake vine (Stephania japonica var. discolor)
